Story text is where most people first want this. The built-in fonts in the story editor are fine, but everybody has the same six.
Pasting a styled string into a text sticker gets you a look the editor does not offer, and it works the same way in a caption.
Does styled text work in stories and reels?
Yes, in the text sticker. Paste the styled string in and the story editor treats it as normal text, so you can still resize and position it.
What you lose is the editor styling. The built-in font, the colour highlight, and the animations apply to plain characters much more predictably than to styled ones.
Which styles survive the app best?
- Small caps and bold are the two with the widest device coverage, so they render for the largest share of your audience.
- Wide letters suit a short story header, since they fill the width without needing a bigger font size.
- Heart and sparkle frames leave your letters untouched and never trip a filter.
- Skip the circled and squared styles for anything long, because they get heavy to read quickly.
Tip: A friend used a wide vaporwave style for the pinned line in her bio and it looked great on her iPhone. On my older phone half of it was blank squares, and she had no idea until I sent a screenshot. Checking on a second device takes a minute and saves that.

This page styles text you already have. If you are still working out the name itself, a nickname generator covers that side, and it is easier to pick the words first and style them once at the end.
