The Instagram bio is 150 characters, and most of the ones that look good are built the same way underneath.
One styled line at the top, plain lines under it, and a link at the bottom. The styling is the smallest part of what makes it work.
What the bio has to do
It has to say who you are in a way that is searchable, which means your niche and location need to be in plain characters.
It has to be scannable, which is where line breaks and one styled header do more than any amount of decoration.
The name field above the bio is separate and holds 30 characters, and it is indexed by Instagram search, so it is the worst place to style anything.
Building it in order
- Write all three lines plain first and count them against the 150 limit.
- Style only the first line, then check the count again, since styled characters can cost more.
- Paste the whole bio at once from a notes app so the line breaks survive.
- Leave the name field plain, because that is the field Instagram search reads most heavily.
Tip: I put my job title in the name field in small caps because it looked tidier, and my profile stopped coming up when people searched that exact job title in their city. Moving it back to plain text fixed it within a couple of days.

This page styles text you already have. If you are still working out the name itself, a nickname generator covers that side, and it is easier to pick the words first and style them once at the end.
