Instagram gives you no formatting at all. There is no bold button in the bio editor, and there never has been.
So every styled bio you have scrolled past was pasted in from somewhere else, using characters that already carry their own shape.
That is what this page produces. Type your line, pick a look, and paste it into the app.
Where does styled text work on Instagram?
Three fields accept it: the bio, the name field above it, and any caption or comment you write. Those cover nearly everything people want to decorate.
The username is the exception. It is limited to letters, numbers, periods, and underscores, so a fancy version is rejected when you try to save it.
The bio holds 150 characters and the name field holds 30, which matters because some styles cost more characters than they look.
Which style suits a profile?
- Script and soft cursive suit creative and personal accounts, and they read best on a short line rather than a full bio.
- Small caps is the safest choice, since it renders on almost every device and still looks deliberate.
- Sparkle frames decorate without touching your letters, so your words stay readable and searchable.
- Keep at least one line of your bio in plain text, because that is the part Instagram search can actually match.
What to check before you save it
Paste the line into the bio editor and look at it there rather than trusting the preview here. Instagram renders text in its own font stack.
Then open your profile on a different phone if you can. Older Android devices are where the rarer styles fall back to empty boxes.
Bio is 150 characters
Combining styles like strikethrough add a hidden mark per letter, so the counter can run out sooner than expected.
Username stays plain
Letters, numbers, periods, and underscores only. No style here will save in that field.
Keep keywords readable
Styled letters are not matched as normal letters, so your niche or location should stay in plain text.
Tip: I styled my whole bio in script once and my profile stopped showing up when people searched my name. Instagram was reading those characters as symbols rather than letters. Now I style the first line only and keep the line with my name and what I do in ordinary text.

This page styles text you already have. If you are still working out the name itself, a nickname generator covers that side, and it is easier to pick the words first and style them once at the end.
