Aesthetic text is a specific look rather than a general one, and two things define it.
The first is space, since letters pushed apart feel calmer than letters packed together. The second is softness, which comes from rounded script rather than sharp gothic.
The two ways to get the look
Wide letters come from a Unicode block built for East Asian typography, where every character occupies the same square. Latin letters in that block end up spaced out, which is where the vaporwave look originally came from.
Spacing styles get you something similar by inserting gaps between ordinary letters, and they have one big advantage, which is that nothing can render as a box.
Building an aesthetic bio
- One wide line as a header, plain text underneath, is the layout that reads best.
- Soft cursive suits a name or a short phrase and gets tiring over a full sentence.
- Sparkle frames pair well with either, since they decorate the ends rather than the letters.
- Wide letters eat character limits quickly, so count them before you fill a short bio field.
Tip: I used wide letters for a bio header and it looked perfect until I added the link line, at which point the whole thing wrapped awkwardly on a narrow screen. Writing the header short enough to fit one mobile line first is the fix.
